Policies

The Riviera Country Club and Sports Center is a family-owned health, fitness, recreation and social center where our priority is to provide the ideal environment for physical activity and social stimulus which will enhance everyday living. Our emphasis is on safety, courtesy,  and providing a comfortable atmosphere.

Our unique facility and comfortable atmosphere appeals to all generations and all fitness levels. The Riviera offers 6 distinct membership types, all of which include full facility use and privileges. We do not offer limited activity memberships.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIPS

* All memberships require a valid credit card to start membership

Individual

  • Available to individuals ages 17 through 64.
  • 17 year old members require signature of parent or legal guardian on application, waiver of liability and payment agreements.
  • Children under age 4 are included on membership.

Husband & Wife

  • Available to married couples under the age of 65.
  • If a couple has different last names, a copy of their marriage certificate must be provided.
  • If a couple is getting married in the near future, they must purchase 2 individual memberships until they are legally married and provide proof of marriage when combining memberships.
  • Children under 4 are included on membership.

Parent & Children

  • Available to one parent and any children living at home between the ages of 4 and 26.
  • The adult on the membership must be the legal guardian for any children included.
  • If primary member wants to add another child to membership at a later date, a government certified birth certificate or proof of guardianship will be required.

Family

  • Available to all married couples and children living at home between the ages of 4 and 26.
  • The adults on the membership must be legal guardians for any children included.
  • If primary member wants to add another child to membership at a later date, a government certified birth certificate or proof of guardianship will be required.
  • If a child turns 26 during an annual family membership or monthly membership he/she will be taken off the membership during the next renewal period. The initiation fee for an individual membership will be waived if it is processed within 30 days of renewal. A new application must be completed and a new membership number will be issued.

Golden Age Individual

  • Available to any individual age 65 and older.
  • If, during sign-up or before renewal, a member notifies the staff that he/she will be turning 65 during his/her annual plan, the Golden Age rate will be honored.
  • A member on a monthly plan will be given the Golden Age rate beginning the month of his/her 65th birthday.
  • A driver’s license or state ID is required for age verification.

Golden Age Husband & Wife

  • Available to any married couples age 65 and older
  • Only one individual needs to fit the age requirement.
  • A driver’s license or state ID is required for age verification.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENTS

The Primary member will completely fill out and sign the paperwork required to join the Riviera. This paperwork includes the Membership Application, Waiver of Liability and Payment Agreement.

Membership Durations

  • 1 Year – contract valid for a minimum of 12 months. Annual renewal from date of signing. Current initiation fees apply upon signing.
  • Auto Renewal – This is an automatic monthly payment charged to a credit card. This commitment does not expire unless a 30-day written notice is submitted. Current initiation fees apply upon signing.

Payment Options (all major credit cards are accepted)

  • Full Annual Payment – Pay for the year in full and save one month’s dues.
  • 90-Day Plan – Pay half of annual renewal at joining/renewal and the remainder is due in 90 days, also save one month’s dues.
  • Automatic Monthly Credit/Debit Card – Payment automatically deducted from member’s card of choice on the 1st of every month.
    • If the credit card and/or expiration date should change, it is the member’s responsibility to notify Riviera immediately.
    • Credit Card updates must be made by the 25th of the month to ensure billing to the correct card for the upcoming payment on the 1st.
    • Should monthly dues be denied on the credit card provided, a $10 fee will be added to the monthly dues.
  • Changing Payment Plans
    • Monthly to Yearly – If a member decides to switch from monthly payments to one annual payment, a change of status form must be completed. A new membership will start from the date of change. If dues were paid for the current month, the annual renewal will begin on the first of the next month. No initiation fee will be applied.
    • Yearly to Monthly – If a member decides to switch from an annual payment to the monthly credit card plan, the unused portion of the current month will be prorated and any other unused months will be credited before monthly credit card charges will begin. A change of status form and credit card payment agreement must be completed and signed.

Rates may be prorated for the first month based on the day of signing.

Riviera Country Club & Sports Center reserves the right to change its monthly dues; however, any such changes will be announced a minimum of three months prior to taking effect.

Changes To Membership

  • Upgrades – A member may choose to upgrade to another membership type with a 12 month commitment discount and will be obligated to a new 12 month term at Riviera Country Club
    • If the member cancels or downgrades the membership in the next 12 months, he/she will forfeit the initiation fee discount and will be assessed the full initiation fee.
  • Downgrades – A 30-day written notice is required to downgrade a membership. There is no fee associated with this change. It is imperative that we adhere to our 30-day notice policy even with regard to unforeseen circumstances. No exceptions or shorter term options can be made.
  • Cancellations – A 30-day written notice is required to cancel a Riviera membership. The Member is responsible for returning ID cards and full payment of any dues and outstanding charges. All initiation fees will be forfeited. It is imperative that we adhere to our 30-day notice policy even with regard to unforeseen circumstances. No exceptions or shorter term options can be made.
    • If a member pays monthly, charges will stop at the end of the 30-day cancellation period.
    • If a member has paid in full for the year, and cancels midterm, a refund will be given for the months that have not been used after the 30 day cancellation period.
    • Any previous credits (not annual payment) on the account are non-refundable. They will remain in the system and can be applied to a future membership.

  • Monthly Holds

  • On Hold – memberships can be placed on temporary hold for any reason. A 30-day written notice is required to put a membership on hold. Membership dues will continue to be paid at a monthly discounted rate (approximately 1/3 of monthly dues). A minimum of 30 days on hold is required.

  • If a member wants to use the club while on hold status, they may purchase a guest pass.
  • If only one member on the membership needs to be placed on hold and the other members wish to continue using the club, dues will be calculated accordingly.

  • Off Hold – To take a membership off hold, the member may return to the club and check-in with membership ID as usual. Attendant will have member sign an “off-hold” form. Membership is automatically restored to active status and dues will be pro-rated accordingly.
  • Credits – Credits that are applied to membership accounts (i.e. referrals) are non-refundable and can only be used for membership dues or renewals.
  • Referral credit – Members will receive a credit toward their dues when referring a new member, after 90 days of paid membership.
    • If referred Individual Membership -$100 toward dues
    • If referred Husband/Wife or Parent/Children Membership – $150 toward dues
    • If referred Family membership – $200 toward dues

    • Dress Code – The Riviera has a dress code for the comfort of all our members. We are a conservative club and feel these regulations add to the family atmosphere. We ask that you wear a sleeved shirt while exercising in the facility. Tank tops, muscle shirts, bra tops or see through net shirts are not permitted. (The only exception for tank tops is on the tennis courts.) Gym shorts, pants and leggings are fine. Please bring a change of shoes and only wear tennis shoes on the tennis courts and track. No open toed shoes are allowed in the fitness area or on the track.

  • The following policies apply to all pools:
    • When on duty, lifeguards are available for additional safety and emergency response. Lifeguards are not and cannot be responsible for all persons in the pool. With or without a lifeguard, you are swimming at your own risk. Swimming alone is not recommended.
    • Proper swim attire is required when swimming. Cut off jeans, sweatpants, and gym shorts are not permitted. Clean t-shirts are allowed to be worn in the pool as a cover-up. Children wearing diapers are required to wear plastic pants and proper swim attire over the diapers while in the pool. This applies to both cloth and disposable diapers.
    • Persons with shoulder length hair or longer when wet will be required to wear a swim cap or gather in a ponytail (no pins please). Persons not getting their hair wet or those with small hair tails will not be required to follow this policy. Your adherence to this policy will help keep our pool clean.
    • Only proper fitting Type I, II, or III U.S. Coast Guard Approved life vests will be allowed in the pool for flotation purposes. Any child using an approved life vest must be within arm’s length of an adult swimmer at all times.
    • Ladders and stairs are to be used when exiting the pool with the exception of lap swimmers in the indoor pool.
    • Diving rings can be checked out by a parent.
    • Fighting, dunking, running, pushing, or throwing objects or a person into the water is not permitted. No sitting on another person’s shoulders.
    • No coolers, thermoses, food or drink will be allowed to be brought into the club, with the exception of food/drinks for infants.
    • Smoking is only permitted in the designated area of the outdoor pool.
    • Small radios are allowed in the pool lounge chair area and not on the immediate pool deck. In consideration of other members, Riviera would prefer that small radios be used with headsets or earphones. If not, please keep radios at a low volume.
    • Spitting or spouting of water will not be permitted anywhere in the pool area.
    • During Family Swim, persons under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible person at least 16 years of age.
    • Swim goggles will be allowed and can be used by adults and children.
    • Wearing jewelry while swimming is not recommended.
    • Diving is not allowed.
    • No persons suffering from a communicable disease, transmissible via water, shall use the pool. Persons using prescription medication should consult a physician prior to using the pool.
    • Persons under the influence of alcohol or exhibiting erratic behavior shall not be permitted in the pool area.
    • Whenever additional rules and regulations are deemed advisable for the protection of the health and safety of the pool patrons, Riviera has the right to put such rules into effect either in print or verbally.
    • Pools may be cleared in an emergency or when weather is not permitting (i.e. threatening weather, or lightning is in sight)
  • Additional Indoor Pool Policies
    • Lap swim is limited to 45 minutes when other members are waiting. The sign-in board is located on the west end of the lap lanes. Members must write start time of lap swim.
    • Snorkels are permitted when lap swimming only.
    • Therapy related devices will be allowed in the indoor pool provided they are not used as a flotation device and do not present any danger to other swimmers. Riviera Management reserves the right to approve or refuse any device.
    • Noodles, water weights, kickboards, and other aquatic exercise equipment are reserved for adults 17 years and older. Children under the age of 17 are not permitted to use the equipment.
    • During the summer swim season, the indoor pool is reserved for adult use. Children under 17 years of age will swim in the outdoor pool. Children are allowed to use the indoor pool lanes but only as a continuous lap swimmer with an adult in the pool area between the hours of 11:00am and 8:00pm. Priority goes first to adults swimming laps or waiting in the designated area. Children under 4 may use the indoor pool during the summer season with an adult in the pool between the hours of 11:00am and 8:00pm.
  • Additional Outdoor Pool Policies
    • Fins and snorkels are not allowed in the outdoor pool.
    • Lounge furniture is not allowed to be brought into our pool facilities. Riviera has ample furniture for everyone.
    • There will be a safety break every 15 minutes to the hour in the outdoor pool only during the hours of 11:00am and 7:30pm for the children under 17 years of age.
  • Pool Slide Policies
    • Minimum height requirement is 42”.
    • Only one person may go down the slide at a time.
    • Persons using the slide must go down feet first while sliding or lying on his/her backside. Standing, kneeling, sliding on stomach, tumbling or rotating is not permitted.
    • Keep arms and feet inside the flume. Do not stop on the slide.
    • Goggles, flotation devices, and other items are not permitted on the slide.
    • Exit the splash area immediately after entering the pool from the slide.
    • An adult may enter the roped off area at the splash down to help a child only after that child has entered the water.
    • Wearing jewelry on the slide is not recommended.
    • Warning – pregnant women and riders with a heart or back condition should not use the slide.
  • Baby Pool Policies
    • Baby pool use is available for children 5 years of age and under only.
    • All children in the baby pool must be chaperoned by an adult at all times.
    • Children MUST rinse sand etc off themselves and their toys before entering the baby pool.
    • Children may bring plastic pool toys in the baby pool only.
    • Strollers will be permitted; however playpens are not allowed.
    • Children wearing diapers are required to wear plastic pants and proper swim attire over the diapers while in the pool. This applies to both cloth and disposable diapers.
    • COURTS
      • Tennis Courts
        • Members can book up to one hour of court time per membership per day.
        • Court time is free if reserved within 24 hours of start time.
        • If member cancels reservation within ½ hour of booking court, no court fees will be applied.
        • If reserved further than 24 hours ahead of time, there is a court fee of $15/hour. If court is canceled prior to 24 hours of start time, no fee will be assessed.
        • Member will also be charged for court time if they do not show.
        • Riviera has racquets that members and guests can rent, the racquet rental is $2.00.
        • Riviera has ball hoppers available to members to rent for $4.00.
        • A ball machine is available for rental; the fee for rental is $8/hour.
        • During the summer season, Riviera’s outdoor courts are free if reserved within 24 hours. If reserved further than 24 hours ahead of time, there is a court fee of $15 per hour.
        • During the summer season there is a $15/hour fee for the indoor courts regardless of when reserved.
        • Children under 10 years old must be accompanied on the courts by an adult.
    • Basketball Courts
      • Members 13-16 may use the adult basketball court as part of youth fitness.
      • No full court games.
      • Basketballs are available in the courts.
    • Racquetball/Wally Ball
      • Members can book up to two hours of court time per membership per day.
      • Court time is free if reserved within 24 hours of start time.
      • If member cancels reservation within ½ hour of booking court, no court fees will be applied.
      • If reserved further than 24 hours ahead of time, there is a court fee of $12/hour. If court is canceled prior to 24 hours of start time, no fee will be assessed.
      • Member will also be charged for court time if they do not show.
      • Riviera has racquets that members and their guest can rent, the racquet rental is $2.00.

    • Kids Basketball Court
      • Our junior members under 17 years old can shoot hoops year round on their own designated court.
    • YOUTH FITNESS
      • Teen members ages 13-16 years old may use the track, adult basketball court, strength training and cardiovascular equipment, free weights, golf cage, boxing area, women’s circuit, and participate in group exercise classes when accompanied by an adult into the fitness center. When using free weights, an adult must be within arm’s reach of teen.
      • Teens must register at the café with an adult and acquire a wristband.
      • Guests under 17 are not able to take advantage of this program.
      • Members ages 13 and above can enter the club without an adult; under 13 years of age, an adult member or guest must be present in the club with the child.
    • EQUIPMENT
      • Please wipe down the machines after each use. Fitness Wipe Dispensers are located in each workout area.
      • There is a 30 minute maximum per machine when others are waiting.
      • There is no “reserving” equipment for later use.
    • WOMEN’S CIRCUIT
      • Accessible to women only.
      • Please wipe down the machines after each use. Fitness Wipe Dispensers are located in the women’s circuit area.
      • There is a 30 minute maximum per machine when others are waiting.
    • INDOOR TRACK
      • 1/10 mile cushioned track
      • Direction changes based on weekday
      • Slower runners or walkers keep to the inside lane
    • GOLF PRACTICE CAGE
    • INDOOR CAFÉ
    • MORE BENEFITS AND PRIVILEGES
      • Complimentary fitness orientation with a certified personal trainer.
        • Members can sign up for orientation at the reception desk.
      • Club charge
        • Monthly invoices will be mailed for all purchases to the club account.
        • If payment is not submitted in 60 days, Riviera has the right to bill the member’s credit card.
        • No monthly minimums on food and beverage.
      • Free towel and lock service for members and guests 17 and older.
      • Free group exercise classes
        • A wide variety of classes
        • Aerobic, Strength, Aquatic, and Cycling classes
        • Videos are available when no classes are scheduled
        • Large, climate-controlled classroom
      • E-Log
        • Computer system which tracks and analyzes individual cardiovascular activities.
        • Members record activities on log sheets located in the fitness area, café, or indoor pool. Information is entered into system which calculates total mileage, calories, and aerobic points.
        • Members receive reports in the mail every three months which detail exercise activities, aerobic points, level of conditioning, pace, intensity, and lifetime totals.
          • Each activity requires certain information for log to receive accurate reports. Missing or incorrect logging can result in miscalculation of points.
      • Recreational and social activities for all age groups scheduled throughout the year
    • ADDITIONAL SERVICES
      • Personal Training
        • The Riviera offers personal training sessions for members who would like to establish an effective workout routine or gain momentum through coaching and encouragement.
          • Scheduling
            • Members can schedule directly with their personal trainer or through the reception desk. Members receive one free consultation. Full session charges will apply to cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment.
      • Private Lessons
        • Private tennis and swim lessons are available to Riviera Members and can be scheduled directly with the instructor.
          • Up to three per lesson at posted rate, if similar ability.
          • Fees
            • ½ hour – $20
            • 1 hour – $40
          • If lesson is canceled 24 hours prior to lesson, the member will not be charged for the lesson.
      • Group Lessons
        • Group lessons are available on a seasonal basis. Fees and schedules will be posted in the club and are available in the spring newsletter.
      • Sandbox PlaytimeSandbox Playtime provides supervised play services for Riviera members.

        • Sandbox Policies
          • Up to two hours per visit.
          • Adults should assist their child with washing their hands upon arrival.
          • Adults must remain in the facility at all times.
          • No children suffering sniffles, sneezes, coughs or any other communicable diseases.
          • Sandbox has plenty of toys to share – please do not bring personal toys from home.
          • Food, drinks, gum or candy are not allowed. Bottles are permitted for infants. All bottles, bags, and pacifiers must be labeled with child’s name for proper distribution.
          • Shoes and/or socks must be worn at all times.
          • Parent will be contacted and asked to remove a continuously disruptive child.
          • Parents are responsible for changing diapers and will be contacted if needed.
          • Reservations
            • For infants 6 weeks through 18 months
            • 1.5 hour time limit
            • Reservations are required and can be made up to one week in advance.
            • Please cancel reservation if you are unable to attend.
          • Sandbox is not a state-licensed facility. Parents assume full responsibility.
      • Gift Certificates
        • Gift certificates are available for purchase through the Riviera Country Club
        • No expiration date

      • Guest Privileges and Fees
        • Members of the Riviera Country Club & Sports Center are welcome to bring guests with them to enjoy the facility. Daily guest fees apply and can be added to the member’s club charge if desired. Guests are required to follow the same policies as the members.

          • Members must accompany guest to the club and remain with them while they use the facility.
          • Guest under 17 may not participate in the Youth Fitness program.
          • Maximum of 6 guests are allowed per membership per day.

Members must agree to these rules and policies of the Riviera Country Club and Sports Center which are subject to change, and recognize that memberships can be revoked for just cause determined by management to be in the best interest of Riviera and its members.
