What You Will Find At Our Gym In Oak Lawn

Check out some of the ways you can stay active with a variety of exercise avenues:

Pool time: We provide three pools to our members: indoor, outdoor and baby pool. The outdoor pool is a great place for your family for a fun day of recreational swimming during the summer months. Our indoor pool has five lanes and a free swim area. You won’t be shivering as we keep our water at 82 to 84 degrees. You can take an aquatics class as a fresh way to stay fit in water. We also offer private swim lessons one-on-one with an instructor.

Basketball: You won’t have to worry about the weather with our three indoor courts for shooting hoops. Our outdoor court is open in the warmer weather.

Cardio Equipment/Weights: When you want focused workout time, you can break a sweat on one of our cardio machines, such as Lifecycles, Nordic Tracks, Stairmasters or ellipticals. State-of-the-art weight offerings include Cybex free weights and strength equipment, Nautilus or Life Fitness Circuit.

Racquetball: Go up against a friend in one of our two courts. You can rent racquets for free.

Boxing Room: Our studio is the place to take on a new challenge. We have two heavy bags and two-speed bags.

Class Environment: Maybe you would like to join a group atmosphere for a supportive workout vibe. We offer numerous classes at a variety of fitness levels. Examples of our free classes include group kick, dance party, cardio mix, group power, Pilates, turbo kick, ZUMBA, step or Latin dance.

COVID-19 Update

June 18, 2020

Riviera Country Club Members:

Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting our way of life for all of our families, friends and businesses, particularly in the state of Illinois. First and foremost, our hearts go out to anyone who's been impacted by the virus, either directly or indirectly. Our thoughts are especially with those who are sick, to whom we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery.

We receive inquiries daily from members asking, “When is the Club going to re-open?” Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to that question as it is entirely up to the governor to give us that approval. The state has recently moved to Phase 3 of its plan, which on the surface includes the opening of “Personal Care Services and Health Clubs” however, it only allows Health and Fitness Clubs to provide outdoor classes for up to 10 participants and one-on-one personal training indoors with IDPH approved safety guidance. This in no way, by any stretch of the imagination, constitutes the opening of Gyms and Health Clubs.

Please keep in mind that we are a full service all-inclusive club with many members and could not reopen in piecemeal form. Most members have specific aspects of the club for which they have become members and use it: Some for tennis; others for exercise classes; and still others for the pool or spa or something else. If any of these aspects cannot be available, then the club does not serve a purpose for those members. Therefore, the entire club will need to be open and available to our members when we open our doors again.

To that end, it looks like the governor’s plan would need to move to Phase 5 for Health Clubs and Spas to fully re-open. The governor’s plan would move to Phase 5 when either a vaccine is developed to prevent the spread of the virus, a treatment option is readily available that ensures health care capacity is no longer a concern, or there are no new cases over a sustained period.

We hope to have additional information in the near future as we move through these unprecedented times. In the meantime, please stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Dan O’Donnell
